China: from factory of the world to an innovation hub? Insights from experts returning from China

  • Wednesday 17 January 2024 07:45-09:45
  • CCIG, bd du Théâtre 4, Genève
  • Organisation : Swiss Centers in collaboration with CCIG

The Chinese economy is currently going through a difficult phase. But it remains an enormous market and an indispensable driver of the global economy. And it plays an increasingly important role in technological and industrial innovation. So, where does China currently stand? We hear from three experts who have just returned from a mission to China.

Did you know that China is the country with the largest number of patents in the world as of 2019? And that three of the ten most active multinationals in this field are Chinese? China is unquestionably indispensable to our economy. It is our 3rd largest trading partner after the EU and the USA. Nearly 1,000 Swiss companies are already established there. What's more, China plays an increasingly important role in technological and industrial innovation, which is also at the heart of Swiss industrial development.

The CCIG, in partnership with Swiss Centers and Lenz & Staehelin, presents the views of three experts who have just returned from a mission in China, on the current situation and outlook of this country.
